Hi, I’m Jamie. Welcome to Wild Roots Nutrition. I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, a passionate home gardener, a nature lover, and someone who has walked the long, messy, beautiful path of healing—both physically and emotionally.

I live in the mountains of Asheville, NC with my fun and adventurous husband, Nate, and our pup, Smokey. When I’m not supporting clients, you can find me in the garden, dancing with friends, or sailing (we recently bought a boat and are learning the ropes with dreams of living aboard one day!).

My passion for yummy food, wellness, and sustainability runs deep. I studied holistic herbalism, fell in love with gardening and care deeply about creating less waste and living in rhythm with the natural world.

My Health Journey

For the longest time I felt like a shell of a person walking around in a body I didn’t recognize. My soul was aching for long hikes, bike rides and backpacking trips, but my body would not allow me to do these things without extreme pain and discomfort. The person I knew I was on the inside was not at all reflected on the outside and I became deeply depressed not knowing how to connect the two.

Desperately looking for support I sought the care of my primary care physician and was quickly diagnosed with PCOS and told I was pre-diabetic. I was handed a prescription for Metformin, but was never asked what I was eating, if I was moving my body, or how I was managing stress.. I felt like just another cog in the conventional medicine wheel and I knew I had to take matters into my own hands.

Then something shifted.

One day, desperate for some kind of relief, I walked into a yoga class. I had no idea it would change my life.

In that class, I felt strong. For the first time in years, I felt in control of my breath, my body, my presence. I left feeling lighter - not just physically, but emotionally. The more I showed up for myself on the mat, the more I started showing up in my life.

I joined a 21-day group detox through my studio, and that experience cracked something wide open. It was more than clean eating and daily yoga—it was a reintroduction to myself. We learned about food, cooking, energy work, and I met with a naturopath who helped me identify long-standing food sensitivities, like dairy, that had caused stomach aches since I was a kid. I finally understood the root of symptoms I had carried for decades.

I eliminated inflammatory foods. I moved my body more intentionally. I started slowing down and listening. That’s when everything began to change.

The weight started to come off. The dizziness and panic attacks I was experiencing started to subside. And most importantly—I started to feel like me again.

It was empowering. And once I found that power, I knew I couldn’t keep it to myself.

I dove headfirst into the world of holistic wellness. I studied herbalism, immersed myself in ancestral wisdom, and eventually became a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I knew I wanted to help others the way I wished someone had helped me—by asking the right questions, looking at the whole person, and reconnecting to the root of it all.

I felt connected to my body, to the earth, and to a purpose greater than myself.

Just as a tree cannot thrive without strong roots, our bodies cannot heal without a solid foundation.— Carl Jung
